For those people, hypoallergenic science fiction (HSF) is the answer: That sf written by authors who can easily camouflage inside the mainstream. For example, Ray Bradbury and Kurt Vonnegut.
Any other names come to mind?
Tommy Amoeba from Facebook gave me this list and recomended to copyright the term:
some mainstream authors and their
forays into sf (and alternate history):
cormac mccarthy - the road
pd james - children of men
michael chabon (fellow pitt alumni) - yiddish policemen's union
john updike - roger's version, witches of eastwick
philip roth - the plot against america
within the genre, i always recommend the hugely
underrated mockingbird by walter tevis to such
people, usually with positive results...
